Next time you have a group of folks over your house and you want to spice things up with a party game, tell everyone to take out their mobile phones and pop in The Jackbox Party Pack and let the madness begin!
When the news of Telltale Games partnership with Jackbox Games was announced, we knew that something good thing could come out of this. So did it? Sit back and relax as we let you know if this the Jackbox Party Pack gets the party started or turns out to be a snooze fest.
About the Party
The Jackbox Party Pack is a collection of interactive party games. The very popular You Don’t Know Jack 2015, Fibbage XL, Drawful, Word Spud, and Lie Swatter. Each game brings to the party their own charm and wit. Some more than others.
Control The Party Gameplay
Every game has a maximum amount of people who can play, from four players to, believe it not, up to one hundred players! That is just ridiculous! Who in their right minds has a hundred controllers?! Well fear not because this is where The Jackbox Party Pack shines. A very cool feature that is introduced is the ability to not only use your controllers, but also for the players to use their mobile devices as a controller. Brilliant!
The way it works is anyone wanting to use their mobile device would head to jackbox.tv. There they would input a four digit code that is given for the game that is being played. Enter your name or something funny and you are in. Each game has their own interface and instructions. One of the more funnier games to use your mobile device comes as you are trying to draw your answers in Drawful. Not using a stylus makes for very hilarious outcomes.
So we hosted two parties to test run The Jackbox Party Pack. We had a one party with six and then another with eight. Sorry, we weren’t able to try with one hundred players. After both parties, a concession was reached when it came to which of the games offered the most enjoyable experience. Here were the outcomes. From favorite to least:
- Fibbage XL
- You Don’t Know Jack 2015
- Lie Swatter
- Word Spud
The Party’s Looks and Sounds
The Jackbox Party Pack does not need to be a graphic heavy game. It’s an interactive party game. Most of the games included in the game pack has its own physical versions. So, the basic and quirkiness comes through and works well. The same can be said about the sound. From the banter before and during a round of You Don’t Know Jack to the hosts of each game, it makes you feel like you are a part of some large game show and laughter will follow.
Spin That Party Again
The Jackbox Party Pack and replayability goes perfectly hand in hand. It will be very sure that your group will want to replay one, two, if not all the games in one sitting. It’s almost impossible to just play this series once and be done with it, especially if someone is on a winning streak.
On top of that, the amount if content when it comes to the questions and topics within each game, it’s a very unlikely chance of seeing repeating questions anytime soon. In the You Don’t Know Jack 2015 game, there are literally over hundreds of questions.
