Review of Krinkle Krusher

A quick look at our impression of Krinkle Krusher, available on Playstation 3, Playstation Vita and Playstation 4.

Remember the last game that you played that was just annoying you wanted to throw the controller but you had to maintain composer because your kids were watching you … if you can’t … then play Krinkle Krusher and you will be throwing everything in your reach. Krinkle Krusher is a new fantasy-based castle-defense game where players battle the Krinkle King and his fierce army as they invade your kingdom, casting magical spells to diminish the defenses around the Kingdom’s sacred Great Tree. But it so freaking difficult I just hate it … seriously I do.

Krinkle Krusher is fantasy castle-defense game driven by an entertaining storyline and filled with magic and spell casting (in place of traditional tower-defense weapons). The Krinkle King has created his army and has ordered it to storm the Kingdom’s castle to capture the Great Tree’s magical fruit. Help Handalf the Mage to defend the kingdom using powerful magic.

The way the games work is the Krinkle army, the enemy you set up to Krush, will attack in waves that contain many types of funny and dangerous enemies! These bad guys while funny and cute are sneaky little devils.

As a mage you start with powerful, magic rings, that initially start with emitting energy bolts, a spell that shocks every little creature that steps over them. The hard part is getting the timing of the attack and lining them up with the Krinkle. You can start casting spells in rapid succession to hit any Krinkle troopers coming down through the lane. But not too fast because you have a limit to the rings powers. Overuse will cause the ring to be drained, break and not work for a period of time.

Each magic ring you obtain bolsters your defenses in a different way, for example, the fire ring will light the Krinkles on fire, the ice ring will freeze them momentarily, the mud ring will slow down their forward progress and the tornado ring will knock the ranks back.

As the wave of Krinkles comes towards you, you are in a race to time your attacks using your magic rings in hopes to destroy them all before they reach your castle walls. Each time a Krinkle makes it to the wall a bit of the shield is damaged. You have a meter to show the remaining strength of your wall. If your wall is completely destroyed before the wave of Krinkles is complete you lose. If you manage to survive then the goal is to gain a higher score and ranking.

Okay so it really isn’t all that difficult but the waves coming and the accuracy in which you need to aim your attacks is maddening.
